Can Boss Who Watched Iron Sink Help Keep Them Up?

Braintree Town have called on the manager they parted company with following their last relegation to help ensure they don’t suffer another.

Hakan Hayrettin is the Iron caretaker will be in charge until they find a new manager.

Braintree and Bradley Quinton went their separate ways on Sunday following the club’s poor start to the season.

Hayrettin was fired when Town were relegated in 2017 but has reached an agreement to return.

He got off to a good start on Tuesday night, a 4-0 win over Canvey Island in the County Cup saw confidence return.

Chairman Lee Harding said: "We are grateful to Hakan for agreeing to help us in the short-term.

“He takes charge at home to Canvey and the next couple of games - while we go through the applications for the first team role."

Hayrettin added: "I am really happy to be back at Braintree.

“I'm looking forward to helping out and we'll see where it goes from there."

But the stand in knows life couldn’t be more difficult this weekend. The Iron face a daunting trip to leaders Salford City.
