The Irishman, who joined the Silkmen from AFC Telford United last summer, was a regular in John Askey's side for much of last season, making twenty-seven appearances in the heart of the Macclesfield defence.
Byrne found the back of the net on three occasions, scoring in home and away wins at Woking as well as in the FA Trophy draw at Torquay United.
His progress was hampered after suffering a fracture in his leg during a 4-1 win over Forest Green Rovers, but Byrne fought his way back from injury in quick fashion and was soon featuring again.
The 23-year-old will now look to compete for a slot in the centre of the Macclesfield defence with John McCombe and George Pilkington when the new season kicks-off on August 6th.
