The Darts were knocked off top spot in the National League South last Saturday after their surprise home defeat to struggling Poole Town.
That led to questions being asked of Burman’s men and the boss reckons some of it was out of order.
But they fought back at the weekend, coming from 2-1 down against promotion hopefuls Hemel Hempstead Town to record a late 3-2 win thanks to Alfie Pavey’s last-minute goal.
Havant & Waterlooville’s goalless draw with Hampton & Richmond means Dartford are now just two points adrift of top spot.
Delighted Burman told the club’s website: “We were 2-1 down and conceded a goal just before half-time but we kept going and made things happen.
“Hemel are a very good side and I’m pleased we got the win we deserved - the desire was there for all to see.
“We’ve had a hell of a lot of stick. Some has been warranted in the right manner and some has been downright disrespectful.
“The boys are trying their hardest. I don’t criticise my players much in public. I’ve never said they have let me down but it’s been a tough week. The celebrations after the winner were for everybody at the club.”
