The manager was appointed in early October but only in the past few weeks has his influence shone through.
Hereford have won three games back to back now following FA Trophy victory over Billericay Town this weekend.
They had to come from behind to do it but Richards felt they were worthy of the 2-1 win over their National League South counterparts.
Having beaten FC United in the last round and Alfreton in the league, the Bulls are now on the charge.
“We’re on a really good mini run now and they key is for that to go on as long as possible,” he said.
“We started slowly and gave them up a goal but we got ourselves back into the game and really dug in.
“We’re getting things into the players and they are learning to manage games. It’s been a positive few weeks but there’s still a long way to go yet.”
It wasn’t all good news. New midfielder James Wesoloski lasted just 14 minutes after making his debut.
“We’re absolutely gutted for James having to come off injured,” Richards added.
