AFC Telford are the latest club to try and end County’s incredible unbeaten run.
No side has taken three points from the title chasers since the November 20 defeat at Blyth Spartans.
But the Bucks are now up to fourth and in the National League North’s game of the day, Cowan wants his players to show they are on the up as well.
He told the National League’s Oli Osborn: “It’s the first fixture you look out for when the games get announced in July.
“Stockport and in a great form and there’s sure to be a massive crowd. Both aspects need to inspire us.
“As aspiring players and as an aspiring manager like myself it’s those type of environments you want to play in.
“I’m looking forward to coming up against Jim Gannon, a man as experienced as he is, and showing what our club is about.
“If you don’t relish matches like this then there’s no point being involved in the game.”
Cowan reckons his players didn’t game-manage well enough as they dropped two home points to struggling Guiseley in midweek.
“We got drawn into a battle in the second half and we shouldn’t have been,” the Bucks boss said.
“But as frustrated as we were on Tuesday night sometimes you have to put things into perspective.
“We’ve got to recognise where we are with arguably one of the lesser budgets in the league.
“We just got to keep on doing what we have been doing and believing in it and in ourselves.”
