The Bucks boss watched his side lose 2-1 at Curzon Ashton on Saturday, a side without a home win all season.
That result meant it’s just five points from a possible 18 for the National League North club in a period which has also seen them exit the FA Cup.
Manager Cowan spoke to the Shropshire Star after the loss in Manchester.
He was angry at the manner of the defeat and explained how the result was “hard to take”.
“I have to take responsibility,” he told the Star.
“There’s obviously something not right or something missing that I have to put right or change.
“But as far as this group goes that was unacceptable.”
