The Shrimpers are on fire in the Vanarama National League – winning each of their last four outings without conceding a single goal.
A rare weekend off gave Kevin Maher and his side time to get some much-needed rest after a jam-packed schedule of late.
But when the leaders are heading to town for a BT Sport showdown, he Maher insists on eye has been kept firmly on the rampant Magpies.
“It was a good chance to reset,” he said.
“We still trained and prepared as we would do for any Tuesday game. Off the back of three away games with some travelling as well, it gave us a bit of breathing space.
“Since last Tuesday we’ve got a bit of rest and recovery into the players, but they’ve trained well, and we’ve got a lot of detail into them.”
“[Notts County] are doing ever so well and they’re top of the league for a reason.
“It’s a massive test for us, but I’m sure they’ll feel the same. They’re a very good side and one that score a lot of goals. We’re in good form, their form has been first class and we’re looking forward to it.
“It’s one that you want to impose your game on, but whatever happens tactically, once you cross the white line it’s down to the players to perform. Hopefully the players are in a good enough place to do that and we’ll see what happens.”
Bromley were only the fifth side to have taken any points from Notts so far this season.
A draw last time out against the Ravens stopped Notts firmly in their tracks – ending a seven-game win streak.
With Wrexham – who are playing tomorrow - breathing down their necks, Luke Williams’ side know only a win will ensure they are top of the pile going into the weekend.
Williams said: “Hopefully we see a group recharged tomorrow and ready to play with a good intensity.
“[Southend] are in a really good place and in as good form as we have been in the last five games so it’s a very challenging game.
“They have the ability to press with a lot of energy and it’s something we have to be ready for.
“They’re a big threat and that’s why they’re in such great form. We have to face every challenge. We can’t expect to go into games and not have any threat.
“We respect them a lot and we have to make a very good performance to have a chance to win this one.”
