BT Cameras Roll! Wes At The Ready For Bees’ Screen Test

Wes Fonguck knows it’s all very well getting it right at the Hive in the cups but repairing the home form guide in the National League now takes priority.

The Bees have beaten Bath City and Stockport County at their place lately - and also held League One Bristol Rovers before victory in the replay.

Problem is, they have also lost in the league to Salford City, Maidstone United and Gateshead in their last three home matches.

With the club 11 points off the play-off pace, the live BT Sport home game with Dover now takes on extra significance.

The lunchtime kick-off gives Barnet the chance to ‘put themselves out there a bit’ as John Still’s side look to begin exerting a little league pressure.

England C international Fonguck told us: “I think what Saturday provides is a chance to show everyone we’re capable of doing something.

“The cameras add to the occasion and we want to perform.

“It’s been a difficult year for the club but we need to end it in a positive way over the next week or so.

“It’s a really busy period and teams know that if they can string some wins together back-to-back then thing can change above them.

“We’re no different but our home form in the league at least needs to be put right. I’m a bit shocked we’re better away than we are at home actually.

“In the FA Cup and FA Trophy we have been really strong here and the results and performances have been great.

“But in the league three defeats in a row isn’t what we want. Maybe the cameras can bring a change of future.”

The difficulty is for the midfield is that Dover are in great form and eyeing a key moment in their season - getting themselves out of the bottom four.

“They’re in a good place right now,” he says. “We’re playing a team who are improving all the time and we’ve got to match them.

“New managers sometimes come in and improve things and it looks like they are in the process of getting back on track.”

Barnet are one of two National League clubs still in the FA Cup of course but there can be no eyes on January’s trip to Sheffield United just yet.

“We’re looking forward to it, of course we are, but there’s four games before the FA Cup,” he added. “Four important games.

“The competition has given us a big lift and we have pulled off some big wins but now we need to do everything we can to climb the table.”
