Bromley Book EFL Place As They Hold Nerve At Wembley

By Sam Elliott

Bromley are promoted to the EFL for the first time in the club’s history as they triumphed in a thrilling season finale at Wembley Stadium.

They swatted away Solihull Moors' brave resistance to claim the golden ticket, winning thePromotion Final on penalty kicks to seal a place in the 92 for the first time in their 132-year history.

Bromley’s Mr Reliable Michael Cheek gave them the advantage heading into the break but few watching the timid first 45 minutes could have predicted what was ahead.

Joe Sbarra levelled things up from close range after Grant Smith could only parry into his path.

Cheek of course didn’t turn his nose up at a penalty in front of his fans to quickly re-establish the advantage but before long it was back to square one.

Jamey Osborne lashed home from range after the Londoners failed to close him down - the midfielder making it 2-2 with a captain’s strike and celebrated in style in front of the club’s fans in the corner.

The game went to extra time and the 23,374 were in for a long afternoon in the capital.
