Brackley Battlers Secure Another Shot At Play-Off Glory

By Tom Scott

Last year's National League North losing promotion finalists will get another bite at the cherry after again securing their place in the top seven.

But Brackley Town's game with Altrincham wasn't without it's drama - the Saints eventually edging the game thanks to a calamitous, last-gasp own-goal.

The Saints lost last season's showpiece to Harrogate Town and currently occupy third place.

After turning Tuesday's game with Altrincham on it's head in the second-half, boss Kevin Wilkin praised his players.

“I am absolutely delighted with the win,” he told the club's official website. “We have two evenly matched sides, both extremely capable on their day.

"I felt we were unfortunate to fall behind in the first half and then had that bit of good fortune right at the end.

"But we stayed strong together, showed courage and created a terrific moment to score an excellent equaliser. It was a good game for the neutrals to watch.

"It was a great night and the win keeps it interesting going into the Easter weekend.”

Brackley now look ahead to hosting Boston United on Good Friday.
