Bower Wants Cup Run Alongside Fine League Form

Mark Bower says his Bradford Park Avenue side have what it takes to do well in both competitions ahead of facing a team a league below.

They host Stourbridge in the cup competition and Bower first of all was full of praise for their opposition, writes Tom Feaheny.

"We are facing a side who have put in some good performances against teams in our league and above, we know how hard this match will be, not for one second am I going to underestimate them," Bower said.

Avenue go into this game full of confidence after a win against Brackley Town, that kept them in the play-off places before this break in league action.

"This was the most pleasing victory since I joined this club. We have faced one of the best sides in the league, we have put in a good performance and deserved the win.

"We have a lower seven budget and are performing ever so well to be in the play-offs, we are all performing to the best of our ability."

"We have faced the top teams in this league in five games and gained ten points, that's some going and something we as a group have to be proud of."

Helping them impress are the likes of Adam Boyes and Oli Johnson two players Bower knows well from his time managing them at Guiseley.

"Adam has ten now and he and Oli keep impressing I know them well, I've worked with them before but the whole team deserve credit as well."
