Bower Knows His Bradford Side Are Right In The Mix

Bradford (Park Avenue) manager Mark Bower saw his team rise to third this weekend - and says they’re up there on merit.

Avenue won 1-0 at Alfreton to continue their fantastic start to the National League North season.

It’s back-to-back wins after a tricky time - including shipping five goals against Chester.

They are proving that was just a blip as a well-earned and narrow win kept them in contention at the top.

He told the Telegraph and Argus: “Chester apart, all five of the last games have been very tight and I thought we deserved to win as we had the better chances.

“The first half was difficult, playing up the hill. They had a bit of pressure but we still had the two clearest chances. The second half we were comfortably dealing with what they had to throw at us.

“I thought we defended well, it was a good clean sheet.

“It was probably different to the others we’ve had; we’ve been fortunate not to concede in some games but this was a solid clean sheet.”
