A league winner at Shaw Lane AFC under current Pilgrims boss Craig Elliott, Wafula was keen to make the step up to the National League North with Gainsborough in order to test himself at the highest level possible.
Having started his career at Chesterfield, the 23-year-old Wafula (pictured) dropped into non-League football with firstly Worksop Town and then Shaw Lane but has never forgotten his aspirations to get back into the Football League.
Twenty-year-old Dyche, meanwhile, has joined the Pilgrims on an initial month-long loan deal from Scunthorpe.
He has previous loan experience of National League North with Bradford Park Avenue and netted 18 goals in thirty-eight appearances during two loan spells with Evo-Stik league Premier side Ashton United at the end of last season and the start of the current campaign.
Both players are eligible to make their United debuts against Curzon Ashton tomorrow.
