Boston Lose Winger to Minstermen

By Steve Whitney

Vanarama National League club York City have completed the signing of winger Kaine Felix from National League North side Boston United.

The 21-year-old penned a two-year deal at Bootham Crescent and becomes manager Jackie McNamara’s fifth signing of the week after Yan Klukowski, Daniel Nti, Aidan Connolly and Callum Rzcona all penned deals in North Yorkshire.

Felix began his career at Peterborough United before switching to Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division side St Neots Town at the age of 16.

After two years with the Saints, however, he moved to Boston United in July 2014 along with manager Dennis Greene on a two-year deal.

Over the course of the next two campaigns, the 5`10” winger gained a reputation as one of the brightest talents in non-League football, going on to reach consecutive National League North play-offs at York Street as well as receiving a call up to the England C squad.

In total, Felix made seventy-six appearances at United, scoring eight times and laying on nineteen assists.

Meanwhile, City can confirm that James Berrett has joined League Two new boys Grimsby Town.

The 27-year-old signed for the Minstermen last summer and went on to make forty appearances in all competitions, scoring 5 goals.
