Boss Garrard Just Loving His 'Ugly' Wood Winners!

Boreham Wood boss Luke Garrard admits he is loving the way his side are grinding out victories as they continue their promotion push.

Wood made it four straight wins on Tuesday, overcoming out of sorts Maidstone United 1-0.

That followed Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Gateshead and while they are not blowing teams away, Garrard says they are showing some key ingredients.

Wood are up to fourth in the National League and could move up to second with victory at Woking on Saturday.

“Maidstone haven’t won in a long time so they set out to be resilient and I’m loving the fact that we’re winning ugly,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.

“We have a bit of backbone and resilience about us. We’ve got an underbelly that isn’t weak and we’ve now had three clean sheets in four games - that’s the most pleasing thing.

“It’s all about habits and that breeds winning mentalities. Are we having a run at the right time? Yes. Can we carry that on? I’m hopeful.

“We’ve got a great group of lads here and I adore every single one of them. The boys have been a credit to me, the football club and themselves.”
