Boss Frecklington Left In Shock By 'Pub Team' Trinity

Angry Gainsborough Trinity boss Dave Frecklington admitted his side looked like a “pub team” in the defeat at Blyth Spartans.

Trinity were well beaten 4-0 in the north-east but Frecklington said it could have easily been double figures.

Gainsborough remain third bottom in the National League North and the boss didn’t hold back when asked what the mood was like in the dressing room after the game at Croft Park.

“It was heated,” he told the club’s Youtube channel. “I said before the game that bringing two or three in would give everyone a lift but it hasn’t worked out that way.

“It doesn’t matter what formation you play or what team you put out there, there’s a way to conduct yourself on the pitch.

“I’m still in shock, it was like going back 12 weeks. Blyth were excellent today but when you get no hunger to put a foot in, no leadership on the pitch, what do you expect. It could have been 10-0 today.

“All I can do is apologise to the supporters today, we let them down. They’ve travelled three hours for an absolute waste of time. They looked like a pub team out there that had just been put together.”
