Boss Bower Backs Avenue To Recover From Tough Run

Mark Bower says his Bradford Park Avenue squad have enough quality to turn their recent poor form around - as their play-off hopes continue to fade.

Avenue suffered two defeats over Easter, going down 3-2 at home to Stockport County before a 2-0 reverse at Chorley.

Those defeats against their fellow top seven hopefuls mean it will be very difficult for Bower’s men to claim a play-off spot.

Avenue have won just once in their last nine National League North fixtures, losing six of them and Bower says the lack of confidence in his squad is there for all to see.

The boss told the club’s YouTube channel: “With the run we’re on, there’s a lack of confidence in the side.

“You can tell people are a little bit hesitant, not on the front foot and not making those instinctive decisions you make when you’re playing well.

“We need to find a formula to get out of this rut and get us going back in the right direction. At the moment, we’re struggling a little bit.

“With the injuries and suspensions that we’ve got, it’s making it difficult. But we’ve got enough in that dressing room to step up and improve on the way we’ve been playing.”
