Wood best then leaders Aldershot Town 2-1 which saw them go level on points with Gary Waddock's men.
They are now 4th in the table - just two points away from pacesetters Sutton United.
Garrard is delighted with his players and wants them to keep progressing.
"It was some of the best football we have played," the manager commented looking back on the weekend's win.
"We caused them an awful lot of problems and on another day we could have three or four before half time.
"In the first half one to eleven they were second best, Aldershot changed things at half time and the grew into the game but we were professional and it's a great three points for us.
"I felt that our experience, understanding and game management really helped the end result when we had to roll up our sleeves."
On Saturday, Wood take their good form to a side who have lost theirs.
Garrard's team go to Tranmere Rovers and they know a victory at Prenton Park could be good enough to take them to the top should results go their way.
