The North East club are one of the surprise packages of the National League North season.
Despite coming up as Evo-Stik NPL Premier champions, they weren’t tipped to challenge by many in their first season back at Step 2.
But after Saturday’s big win over Brackley, and Tuesday night’s fantastic 3-0 romp at Tamworth, the Spartans are in the mood once more.
Dale scored a brilliant hat-trick though even he didn’t foresee such a great season.
“We’ve been on a bit of a bad run and we needed to follow up from Saturday really,” he told the National League’s Oli Osborn at the Lamb.
“We needed to get back to basics a little bit after the run we have been on. We have kept the clean sheet and we have built on Saturday, and that is massive for us.
“I think in this league if you play with momentum you have got a chance. We’re a confidence side so that’s why it’s good to be back on track.
“We are ambitious but we know there are some very big clubs in the play-offs,” Dale added.
“There are some who aren’t even in the top half who are massive clubs. I would have just been happy staying up this season but once you get up there you want to stay there.
“If we can get into the play-offs in our first year up we would have done an unbelievable job.”
