The Blues lost 8-1 last time they faced Blyth Spartans back in August but kept the pressure on the top seven with a 2-0 win on Tuesday night.
After being out of form, Johnson said he knew all along his side would start producing.
"I don’t want to be disrespectful and say it was easy, but it was almost a complete performance," he told the club's Twitter.
"I’m made up for the lads because we’ve took some criticism, rightly so but what they’ve shown is what we’ve believed all long.
"The reason we’ve got a little bit upset with them is because we know how good they can be and (tonight) they were fantastic.
"You don’t beat Blyth without every single player being on it - The work rate and intensity off the ball was brilliant."
With another crunch game with Altrincham in the offing this weekend, Johnson challenged his side to use the momentum on their travels.
"We said when we came in we wanted to make our home ground a fortress but we definitely need to sort out what’s going on on the road," he said.
"You don’t win promotion or affect the top seven by being bottom of the league with the away record.
"But Alty are a good side and if we’re not on it like we were tonight, they’ll take us to the cleaners.
"It’s a really tough game so we’ll enjoy tonight for an hour or so and then we start planning."
