Bird Flys Out Of Dover And Straight Into Magpies' Nest!

Maidenhead United have pulled off a transfer coup and clipped the wings of their rivals in the process.

Centre-forward Ryan Bird has become a Magpie after the 16-goal Dover Athletic man returned to the area he grew up in.

The Slough-born striker was playing for local Burnham before he was spotted by Portsmouth in 2013.

Bird turned down a new deal at Dover and also rejected other offers to become the club's fourth summer signing.

It’s great news in a challenging summer for Maidenhead United and their manager Alan Devonshire so far.

A trio of important players have left this close season. Sam Barrett has joined Southend United while Harry Pritchard has been given a chance by League One Blackpool.

Striker Sean Marks has stepped back into the Isthmian League and returned to Essex to sign for AFC Hornchurch.

They have done some business of their own lately with defender Ayo Obileye arriving at York Road after signing from Eastleigh.

Brentford winger Herson Alves has also agreed to play for the club in their second National League season.
