Bignot Praises Chester's Defence After Tranmere Point

Chester boss Marcus Bignot says it is an important point gained by his side after the 0-0 at Prenton Park.

A 0-0 draw at Prenton Park with over 1000 Chester fans in attendance left Bignot pleased with what he saw in his third game in charge of the side. Match highlights here, writes Tom Feaheny.

It is now a win, loss and a draw in his opening three games managing the team.

"It was a superb response, I was really pleased with the performance to get a point at Tranmere is a step in the right direction," said Bignot to the club's website..

"Credit to the lads, they showed great desire and experience, we have a few that are getting up to 90 minutes so for them, it was great to see them keep going."

Alex Lynch kept a fine clean sheet making a number of impressive saves, Bignot says he is one of the key reasons they gained the point.

"It is two clean sheets in three games, it shows the structure we have in place, we have a keeper that is doing his job, he is tough to beat."

The Blues next take on Kidderminster Harriers next week in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, Bignot says their attention is fully on the cup now.

"We know how important the FA Cup is, all our focus will be on the competition."
