The Lions didn't have a game this weekend due to the FA Trophy but it Bignot insists it won't be time for him to put his feet up.
"We have needed this break," he told the Telegraph & Argus. "It will give us time to put work into the boys and an opportunity for is to get in some new recruits.
"Money is tight and we have to work within our budget. We have to be really cute in the market. We are definitely looking."
It's been a tough season for Guiseley who sit just four points from safety after their remarkable 5-4 defeat to Boston United last weekend.
And although it might have been a treat for the neutrals, Bignot insists it shows exactly where they need to strengthen.
"To be on the end of that scoreline is really disappointing. The chances of scoring four goals at home and not winning are pretty low.
"Our front two are in a rich vein of form," he continued. "But it is at the other end where we have difficulties. We have not kept enough clean sheets.
"The guys need a bit of competition for places. We have lost members of our back four, which has really caught up with us."
Guiseley's next game is against Stockport County on February 9.
