Biggest Night Yet As National League Cup Really Heats Up!

It’s the most important week of the National League Cup yet and things are about to get really interesting as many of our clubs chase some silverware.

On Tuesday night, ten matches take place and as the tables are really beginning to take shape with qualification up for grabs.

In September, the Premier League and the National League launched the brand new competition for first teams of National League clubs and PL2 sides.

The National League Cup is designed to give young players from Premier League and EFL clubs additional opportunities to test themselves against senior opposition, with the aim of further aiding elite player development.

We’re now at a crucial stage and this week, plenty of our teams take to the field again.

Aldershot Town sit towards the top of Group A and they really boost their chances if they follow up Saturday’s huge win at Oldham Athletic by beating Fulham. Wealdstone are lurking and also have six points so far - they get a visit from Brighton & Hove.

Forest Green Rovers aren’t having a great time of it in Group B and look for their first point against Blackburn Rovers U21 tomorrow. Rochdale are very much in touch and now Stoke City stand in their way.

We’ve got three matches coming up in Group C. Boston United are in second place and will add some pressure to Leeds United if they beat Middlesbrough. It’s a big derby as Gateshead play Newcastle United while Tamworth’s latest cup crusade comes against table-topping Leeds.

The rest are trying to catch Braintree Town in Group D, the Iron have nine points on the board already.

They are not in action but Ebbsfleet United are, and after two draws and a defeat they welcome Nottingham Forest U21.

Sutton United beat York City on Saturday and now have West Bromwich Albion in their sights while Dagenham & Redbridge have another derby date. After Millwall last week in the FA Cup, it’s West Ham United’s youngsters on Tuesday.
