Big North And South Night Sure To Raise The Temperature!

By Sam Elliott

There’s plenty of teams in action tonight and a lot of points up for grabs - so who’ll stick out their hands and place three in their back pocket?

We were thwarted as the National League North top of the table six pointer was cruelly swiped from us on Saturday but both teams return to the title fight later.

Leaders Tamworth are looking to stretch their legs with Boston United bound for the Midlands, while second-place Scunthorpe United know they can’t afford many more mistakes and travel to a Darlington side battling for their lives.

Scarborough Athletic are up to third and if they want to apply the pressure, they need to get winning again after dropped home points at the weekend. Later, they head to Blyth Spartans.

Two sides going all out for the play-off collide when Chester go to Chorley.

Brackley Town are aiming to strengthen their grip on the top seven by winning their fifth game in a row as they make a rare short trip - the Saints are at bottom club Bishop’s Stortford.

King’s Lynn Town hope tonight is the night they exit the bottom four but to do that they must beat Curzon Ashton. There’s a big one at the end as Banbury - just outside the drop zone - play Gloucester City, who sit third from bottom.

Yeovil Town know if they keep winning, it won’t be long until the National League South title countdown really begins.

They have the chance to open their 13-point gap even further when they head to Truro City.

Worthing - looking like their closest challengers - are at home to Slough Town while Maidstone United face Braintree. Aveley are seventh and go to Eastbourne Borough, who have their own issues to attend to.

Gary Johnson says he’s not going anywhere amid Torquay United’s uninspiring season - they make the journey to Chippenham, while Bath City want to snatch their play-off place back by beating Weston-super-Mare.

Taunton and Weymouth are the two sides sitting just outside the bottom four and both know how crucial their meeting is on Tuesday night.

Havant & Waterlooville are nine points adrift of them both and must start closing the gap. The Hawks try again at St Albans City, who hope a win will be enough to see them claim a promotion position.
