Big Games Ahead On A Busy National League Boxing Day

By Tom Scott

Boxing Day can only mean a big feast of National League football in the offing.

As the curtain comes down on 2024, the final matchday of the year is on the way tomorrow – with plots and storylines galore!

The game of the day comes from Boundary Park as in-form Oldham host leaders York City live on DAZN from 5.30pm.

The Latics have won their last four National League outings and will close the gap to the summit if they can come through against a York side looking for their first away win in four.

Looking to pounce if the Minstermen slip-up are Barnet.

Dean Brennan’s Bees are unbeaten in eight but wounded Sutton United could prove a tough test after consecutive defeats.

Yeovil are yet to win against any of the current top-half sides – they have a chance to make that right when Eastleigh head to Huish Park.

Forest Green Rovers make their way to home-comfort-loving Tamworth - Steve Cotterill’s side are on a 12-game unbeaten run that stretches all the way back to September.

Aldershot and Woking always put on a show this time of year and the Cards are hoping their new manager bounce continues to notch their first win at the EBB for over four years.

Hartlepool are also going well with their new management team and could be in the play-off places with a win at Gateshead.

The Heed have 23 goals in their last six games in all competitions – only York and Barnet boast a better goals-for column in the National League this season.

Maidenhead’s home form could be encouraging for Wealdstone who will be desperate not to get sucked into a fight at the bottom end of the table.

The Magpies haven’t won at York Road for 91 days but the Stones have lost just once in their last eight National League outings.

Ebbsfleet United have just one win to their name this season and head to Southend United looking for their first-ever win at Roots Hall.

Braintree Town make the 40-mile trip to Dagenham & Redbridge while Boston United’s five-game unbeaten run in all competitions at home will give them hope against Solihull Moors.

Rochdale head to AFC Fylde with both Altrincham and FC Halifax Town waiting in the wings to leapfrog them if they can’t return from the coast with a win.
