The defender finally scored after a two-year wait when he found the net in the fine 4-0 win against Darlington.
The Minstermen really needed that result with the club lagging behind in the National League North play-off hunt.
But all the talk after was of Bencherif’s teeth - and there’s a treat lined up for him at Curzon Ashton on Saturday.
In an interview with the York Press, the manager said: “Hamza does something that I’ve never seen any other player do, because he brushes his teeth just before we go out for the game.
“I told him, before kick-off, that I would brush his teeth for the next game if he got me a couple of goals and he went and did that, so he reminded me of our chat when he got his second.
“I’m pleased for him because he’s been disappointed not to be in the team, but he’s a really good bloke, who is honest, hard-working and will have a really good go for you.”
