The Nash won 1-0 at bottom club North Ferriby United on Tuesday night to climb up to 12th in the National League North.
Flanagan’s men now look forward to a game against local rivals Stockport County on Saturday and the boss wants to see more confidence in his players.
“We’ve just got to believe in ourselves a bit more,” he told the club’s website. “Yes, Stockport are a big club but they’re not a great side at the moment.
“If you stand off them, they can play but so can we. If we have confidence and use the extra people in the crowd as a lift, it can go in our favour.”
On the North Ferriby win, he added: “At times in the first half we popped the ball around OK and looked a reasonable side.
“The points are more important than the performance considering the situation both clubs are in.
“The effort levels were better than they have been recently and that’s a good starting point for us to move on from.”
