Bee Patient To Boost Promotion Chances Barnet Fans Told

Barnet boss Dean Brennan says fans’ patience could help them towards promotion.

One of the pre-season title favourites are now in the groove following back-to-back wins, the perfect response to their opening day defeat at FC Halifax Town.

Leaving it very late against fellow fancied side Forest Green Rovers last night, Brennan hailed his team’s composure.

While it wasn’t exactly part of the Bees’ game plan, the Irishman says striking killer blows in the final stages may be something they need to do on a regular basis.

He had a message for supporters after the game and explained more about why them sitting tight could really help.

He said: “This is important and our fans need to understand that we’re building dominance and they can’t get frustrated when we don’t shoot in certain situations. We don’t want teams counter-attacking on us.

“We are going to need to be direct sometimes. The game plan today was about staying patient, we will need to do that. Eventually something will open up for us.

“I don’t think Forest Green had a corner, that’s impressive. I think we should be on nine points, but I’m happy with our level of performance.”

The manager then set his match winner Zak Brunt, 22, a big target.

“He’s gone away and got himself a sprint coach this summer and he looks that little bit sharper,” Brennan said.

“I’ve told him I want him to score 15 goals this season. He’s capable of doing it.”
