Beavers Have Been Starved Of FA Cup Success: McCann

Gary McCann thinks it's about time Hampton and Richmond had a cup run after being 'starved of success' in the past.

The Beavers overcame National League Eastleigh to secure their place in the next round of the FA Cup for the first time in 11 years.

They now face League One Oldham Athletic in the First Round.

Speaking to the club's website after the game, McCann thought his side fully deserved their win.

"It wasn't a smash and grab, it was a perfect performance worthy of a win and to do that against National League opposition speaks volume of the level of performance.

"It's a special moment for all, not just in the changing room but the whole football club.

"As the first-half went on, you could see the belief flowing through the team.

"We've been starved of a bit of success in the FA Cup so I'm really pleased and proud that we've put a performance together of that magnitude and progressed to the first round."
