Barrow Say Their New Boss Will Be 'Modern Manager'

By Sam Elliott

Barrow appear to be getting closer to naming the club’s new manager - and they’ve dropped hints about heading in a new direction.

The Bluebirds have been without a boss since Ady Pennock left over a fortnight ago.

That hasn’t stopped the club signing three players with Josh Granite, Astley Mulholland and Jack Hindle all agreeing to play for the club next season.

As yet, they don’t know who will be in charge but things are “progressing” at Holker Street with a shortlist drawn up.

Barrow’s managing director Andrew Casson has told the News and Mail that the club are thinking outside the box when it comes to their new appointment.

“We’re trying to find people who are newer to the game, who understand the way the modern game works and the way the modern footballer thinks,” said Casson.

“We are talking to people who have different ideas about to manage those different types of personality.

“Unless they have demonstrated a lot of success at different levels, we’ve shied away from some of the more traditional names you might have seen in the past.”

Barrow stayed up on the final day of the National League season and an improvement is expected by the club’s board next season.
