Thompson joins on a one month`s youth loan deal from SkyBet League Two side Coventry City, with Bignot (pictured) joining on non-contract terms.
Bluebirds defender Dave Nieskens picked up a knee injury in the game at Tranmere Rovers last weekend, he will see a specialist next week to determine the extent of the injury but initial assessments put him out for several weeks.
Fellow defender Thierry Audel picked broke his arm in training yesterday and also faces a spell on the sidelines. He is expected to be out for at least 8 weeks subject to a follow up consultation next week.
Thompson is an exciting talent and was part of the successful Coventry under-18’s side last season, and was named in the Sky Blues’ squad for the first time in the final game of the 2016/17 campaign against Scunthorpe.
He has been tipped as a player who could make the breakthrough into their first-team squad this season and will benefit from the opportunity to gain experience in the National League.
Bignot, brother of Marcus, joins on non-contract terms.
The highly-experienced defender has played for the likes of Blackpool, Grimsby Town and Crewe Alexandra in the Football League and joins having most recently played at Newport County last season.
Both newcomers are available for selection in tomorrow`s fixture against Torquay United at the Furness Building Society Stadium.
