Barnet Ease To Big Game Victory On Eventful Evening

Barnet swatted aside York City tonight to take control of the National League title race.

The Bees beat their championship rivals 3-1 to increase their advantage at the top to seven points.

Adebola Oluwo put the leaders in front from close range before further goals from Lee Ndlovu and Anthony Hartigan early in the second half made the points safe.

It was close to the perfect night for the Londoners and Barnet had some help from bottom side Ebbsfleet United, who kept third place Forest Green Rovers at arms’ length with both sides unable to find the breakthrough.

Barnet would have liked the result at Boundary Park too. In one of the surprises of the season, struggling Maidenhead United went to Oldham Athletic and won - Shawn McCoulsky the match-winner, only their second away victory since October.

Jacob Hazel’s double handed Boston United a big boost in their battle against the drop - but left AFC Fylde with a lot of work to do to stay in the division.

Gateshead eventually overcame Sutton United, despite blowing a 2-0 lead. They were stunned by the comeback but found a second wind as Jack Roles completed his brace to earn a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Regan Linney continued his bid to win the Golden Boot with another as Altrincham secured a very important three points at Hartlepool United. Lucas Weaver made the points safe in time added on.

Talking of players on the goal trail, right wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss scored once again as Southend United added to Aldershot Town’s relegation worries.

Yeovil Town came from behind the beat Tamworth, Charlie Cooper and Frank Nouble with the goals.

Chorley missed the chance to up the heat at the top of the National League North.

A 2-0 defeat to impressive Radcliffe ended the Magpies' ten-game undefeated run, Rick Smith and Jordan Hulme did the damage.

Kidderminster Harriers also spurned the opportunity to put some pressure on, the ten men going down 3-1 at Marine who were inspired by two goal Chris Doyle.

Hereford move up to fifth win another win as Warrington’s woes continue. Jaiden White scored twice.

King’s Lynn Town are sixth and they also had a two goal hero as Ross Crane broke Oxford City hearts, the visitors playing for almost 90 minutes a player short.

Dior Angus and David Morgan helped Southport see to Farsley Celtic with Spennymoor 3-1 winners over Alfreton Town as Leamington and Buxton drew 1-1.

Eastbourne Borough fired out a message to the others in the National League South.

George Alexander’s hat-trick brought Enfield Town’s resurgence to an end - a 5-0 victory move the Sports up to second.

In the only other game, Josh Hedges’ 95th minute leveller earned Salisbury a point at Chesham United.
