Back With A Bang! National League Action Returns

By Sam Elliott

A fantastic live DAZN game tops the bill as National League football returns this weekend.

The FA Cup is all packed away for a few weeks as the battle for points resumes - so where did we leave things?

The cameras head to Rochdale to track the progress of Jimmy McNulty’s side, and to see if Southend United can start their climb with a potential season-changing three points.

The broadcaster will be there to capture all the action, with kick-off 5.30pm.

The chasers know they can’t let National League leaders Barnet scamper off into the distance. The Bees are 13 games unbeaten in all competitions now but will certainly be tested at Solihull Moors, who ended Oldham’s great run two weeks ago.

Forest Green Rovers, pictured, are in second and need to keep winning, they welcome Braintree Town.

York City were called the best team in the division by Woking manager Michael Doyle but one win in four isn’t enough for Adam Hinshelwood. He knows they need to beat bottom markers Ebbsfleet United.

Gateshead’s new manager Carl Magnay watched on as his side were humbled at home to Step 4 Hednesford in midweek.

His takes charge of his first game in the National League and it’s a tough opening assignment at Altrincham.

Sutton United and Oldham Athletic will very much expect to be a part of the play-off picture, so their meeting takes on added significance.

Eastleigh are tucked into the top seven but have only won once in six, and tumbled out of the FA Cup on Saturday. There’s a big Hampshire derby at Aldershot coming up.

Kevin Phillips saw for himself the task in hand at AFC Fylde last week as they were torn apart by Rochdale. Ahead of their game at Dagenham, title sponsors Vanarama pin-pointed the problems he needs to address.

With 17 points on the board already, Tamworth are arguably the surprise package. Can they add three more at home to Woking?

Wealdstone need their 4-1 FA Cup win over Gosport to propel them up the table. It’s an important game for the stuttering Stones at home to Yeovil Town.

Hartlepool United parted ways with Darren Sarll on Wednesday. Veteran manager Lennie Lawrence takes the team at Maidenhead, who will smell blood tomorrow.

Boston United owe their fans a performance after a 4-0 FA Cup whitewash against Gainsborough Trinity. Will they provide the perfect reaction when FC Halifax pay a visit?
