It’s back to Borough for Nuneaton Town as the fans’ voices were listen to.
A vote took place to decide if the Vanarama National League North club should stick with the name it has used since reforming or revert back to its roots.
The supporters have spoken and they confirmed today the news that they’re going back to go forward.
“We confirm that the votes in the recent name change poll have been counted and verified by a Supporters’ Co-Op Board Member and the club chairman,” Nuneaton said.
“The result was a resounding ‘yes’ by a clear majority in favour of submitting a formal application to The Football Association to change the name of the club back to Nuneaton Borough Football Club in readiness for the 2018/19 season.
“The application and supporting documents will be submitted in full by the closing date of December 31st 2017 for The FA Panel to consider the name change.
“To support the application, this consultation process was a necessary requirement.
“Of the 476 votes cast via email, post and online survey, 464 voted to change the name back to Nuneaton Borough, whilst just 12 votes cast wanted the name to remain as Nuneaton Town.
“The start of the process was the consultation of the fan base with transparency and a desire to change the name of the club. The collection of the submissions needed to be verifiable.
"The formal process can now be submitted in accordance with FA Rules.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part in this important survey. You have spoken and we have listened.”
