Away win just the job for Law

Alfreton Town's 2-0 win at Curzon Ashton in Vanarama National League North has put the smile back on the face of manager Nicky Law.

Law is in a buoyant mood again after seeing his side extend their unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions after Monday night's 2-0 win at the Tameside Stadium.

The Reds boss, who saw his side disappointingly held to a 2-2 draw by promotion-chasing Nuneaton at the weekend, said: “It was a hard fought win in difficult conditions and I thought we deserved it. But it could have been oh so much better had we taken more than a point on Saturday.

"That was nothing to do with Nuneaton though. It was taken out of our hands by the official but we made up for it at Curzon. I am really pleased with the win.”

Law also had praise on Wednesday for his latest signing Cecil Nyoni and striker Jamie Jackson who put in a man-of-the-match performance as well as netting the second goal.

He added: “Cecil was excellent, everything I hoped he would be. He came and did everything we wanted him to do. He was big, strong and kept it simple, just what we wanted.

“Jamie did really well. I know what he can do. Unfortunately, for some reason he is a really good impact substitute. We have spoken about it on many occasions with him and how he has got to do it from the start of games and he did just that.

"He is more than capable but he has now got to produce that sort of form on a more regular basis."
