Assistant-manager Danny Boshell was always expected to sign as a player to accompany his coaching duties. However, brother Nicky has been on trial with the club this summer.
He was with Avenue last term, but finished the season out injured and was invited to prove his fitness to manager Mark Bower.
Bower has been impressed with the midfielder in training and in the pre-season matches, with the left-footer scoring twice in the friendlies so far.
The 30-year-old returned to the Horsfall Stadium last summer again from Guiseley AFC, having yo-yoed between the two clubs since first leaving Avenue in 2012.
Boshell had spent the prior two seasons at Nethermoor under Bower, scoring 8 goals in thirty-five appearances as Bower’s side won promotion to the National League.
In the 2015/16 season, Boshell made thirty-one appearances in non-League’s top flight, netting 4 goals as they defeated the odds to avoid relegation on the final day.
In total, across three spells with Avenue, Boshell has made 123 appearances and netted 17 goals.
