Vanarama National League North club Bradford Park Avenue have...

...moved to add young Northern Ireland goalkeeper Conor Mitchell to their squad following Jon Stewart’s suspension.

Mitchell joins on loan from Sky Bet Championship side Burnley until January 30th.

Stewart, who has captained the Avenue side since Simon Ainge was sidelined with injury, was shown a straight red card for violent conduct in the FA Trophy victory over Lincoln City.

He will miss three games, starting with Saturday’s encounter with high-flyers Nuneaton Town.

Mitchell is expected to start at least the three which Stewart is out for.

The Burnley youngster has featured heavily for his country at youth level, helping them to victory in the Milk Cup in Coleraine.

He signed a two-year youth scholarship with Burnley in 2012, before signing as a professional in 2014.

However, he did continue to play for Burnley’s youth team last season due to a special dispensation for goalkeepers.

After impressing last term, Mitchell was offered a new deal for 2015/16 which has already been extended by the club following an appearance on the bench at Middlesbrough.

He has spent time on loan with Sheffield FC, impressing in his month’s loan with the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South outfit.
