Askey Says Silkmen Finding A Way To Win Is What Counts

Macclesfield Town boss John Askey says Nathan Blissett's 89th minute winner showed the spirit and mentality of the side.

Their three points gap at the top was kept thanks to a last-gasp goal as they were able to overcome Gateshead, writes Tom Feaheny.

"It is great, I thought we played well first-half we could have been two or three up, like all teams that wins things you eventually found a way to get victory," Askey told MID Communications.

"We have kept battling, we didn't just accept getting a point and that is the reward we get for it."

The goalscorer was also someone Askey was full of praise for.

"With Nathan, he is someone we have been looking for during the past five years, he can hold it up cause problems, he worked really hard and got his goal."

It was another clean sheet as well for Shwan Jalal, Askey knows the importance of his number one.

"His handling and kicking was good, when you have a keeper who is as good as he is you know you have a chance."
