A Keith Lowe header with moments to go ensured the Silkmen gained the three points and came from behind for the win, writes Tom Feaheny. Match highlights here.
"It was a great feeling, it keeps up our fantastic away record, full credit to our players, they worked their socks off and it was nice to get the win the way we did," Askey told the club's website.
"The win gives everyone confidence to come from behind away from home against a decent side, it's been a good week.
"We kept going towards the end, it's remarkable to be in the position we are in, the players who have come in, have shown confidence and are playing well."
With the match against Wrexham next, Askey says the league is too close to call.
"We know it will be a good test for the side, we are fully focused on the task in hand.
"It is still early days, until you get to March time, you will win and lose some, we want to create a gap between us and the rest of the league."
