Askey: It's Time To Show The Silkmen Have Title Resolve

We are now about to find out in Macclesfield Town have the character to win the Vanarama National League.

That is the view of manager John Askey, whose side’s winless run is extended to four after their failure to beat basement boys Torquay United on Saturday. Watch Match Highlights Here:

Elliott Romain levelled after Danny Whitehead’s great effort cancelled out. The Silkmen have seen their lead cut to just a point.

Askey knows they are entering a crucial stage of the season and his players have got to show mental muscle to get back on track.

He said: “If we want to win something this season, we’ve got to stand up and be counted now.

“We really should have ended the game as a contest before we did. We should have been out of sight but we’ve made mistakes again and we’ve come away without getting the three points we needed.

“We’re not finishing games and that’s a problem as it allows side back in. We’ve got to show character now and get back to winning ways as soon as possible.”

Macclesfield’s next fixture is at home to Guiseley on February 10 before they travel to Aldershot Town, currently in second place, a week later.
