Arsenal To Field Star-Studded Line-Up At Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood have announced that a combination of thirty-eight full international caps are likely to be gracing the Meadow Park pitch tonight.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, along with Ivan Gazidis, will hopefully also attend in order to officially open Wood`s new million pound Desso pitch immediately before the match proceedings begin in earnest.

It has been announced that Arsenal are likely to bring along Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Chuba Akpom and Jeff Reine-Adelaide amongst others to give Boreham Wood’s showpiece fixture some fizz.

The England and French internationals will be joined by a number of high-profile under-23s from Arsenal’s famed academy, who can now be added to the young players of yesteryear, such as Ashley Cole, Antonio Reyes and Hector Bellerin, who have trod this path before them.

As a French International with twenty-seven caps to his name, Debuchy joined the Gunners from Newcastle United in the summer of 2014 after impressing Wenger with dominating performances at both Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup.

On the back of a ten-year stint with Lille, Debuchy had proven himself to be one of Ligue 1’s strongest right-backs.

The Frenchman won both the title and the French Cup in 2011 before departing for Newcastle United in 2013.

Academy product Gibbs has previously captained the Arsenal first-team, wearing the armband on multiple occasions in the League Cup.

A full England international with ten caps to his name, Gibbs made his debut for the Three Lions alongside Jack Wilshire in 2-1 win over Hungary at Wembley in 2010.

Jenkinson was snapped up by Wenger in 2011 from Charlton Athletic, the dynamic full-back won his first England international cap against Sweden in 2012.

The 25-year-old also has multiple caps for the under-21s, and featured for the young Three Lions at the 2015 European Championship in the Czech Republic.

An England international up to under 21 level, there remain high hopes for Akpom at Arsenal.

The quick-footed forward has been with the Gunners since the age of six and made his Premier League debut in a 3-1 win over Sunderland in September 2013.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on-loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and returns to Arsenal with hopes of breaking into the first-team picture.

Reine-Adelaide impressed for the Arsenal first-team last season with a series of dominating performances in the Capital One Cup.

The young midfielder featured in all Arsenal’s EFL cup matches prior to their exit at the quarter final stage.

He particularly impressed in the 5-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup third round, where he lined up alongside both Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a midfield three.

A French international up to under 19 level, Reine-Adelaide is another looking to make the breakthrough into Wenger’s first team on a more permanent basis.

The famous FA Cup trophy will be on display at Meadow Park in celebration of the two-club’s recent ten-year contract extension.
