Armstrong: Blyth In Such A Good Place

Alun Armstrong now wants to repay Blyth Spartans' fantastic support in London on Saturday with promotion.

The club exited the FA Trophy but they gave as good as they got at Leyton Orient.

Nearly 300 Spartans backed the team the whole way and the crushing late goal couldn’t deflate them on their day out in the capital.

Manager Armstrong spoke to the club’s website after and now their target is the top seven.

“It’s the best I’ve ever seen,” said Armstrong. “They were brilliant and I was more gutted for them because it would have been great to get Orient back to Croft Park – imagine the noise we would have got there!

“It was devastating to lose in the way we did but we’ll take massive satisfaction from what we done today.

“I’m so proud of the players, the fans and the club – it’s in a good place at the minute.

“They’ve came such a long way and they haven’t stopped singing all game.

“We’ve come on leaps and bounds in the two-and-half-years I’ve been here but sometimes you just have to take stock, realise where we are, and just enjoy the games.”
