Another New Keeper for Avenue

Bradford Park Avenue manager Alex Meechan has added goalkeeper Dan Eccles to his squad for the forthcoming Vanarama National League North campaign.

Eccles will battle with Ryan Jones for the number one shirt at the Horsfall Stadium, after he re-joined the club earlier this week.

Teenager Eccles has been on trial with Avenue throughout pre-season, appearing in the friendlies against Eccleshill United, Nelson and Consett.

In fact, the 19-year-old brilliantly saved a penalty in the victory over Eccleshill, and made a good one-on-one save to preserve the clean sheet at Consett.

Eccles came through the youth ranks at Burnley before moving to Carlisle United whilst still a youngster. He has spent time at Workington AFC and Barrow AFC, from whom he was released this summer.

Somewhat incredibly, in a trial period as a 14-year-old, Eccles was named on the bench for Barrow in a friendly at Altrincham, and was forced into action on the hour-mark as the starting keeper was carried off injured.
