But he feels the best antidote to what happened back in late April is pulling out more wins.
We’ve seen the best and worst of the Robins so far, two sturdy 1-0 wins over Woking and Maidenhead were sandwiched between a whitewash at Sutton United.
Their six-point return is encouraging for the manager who says licking their wounds after their painful trip to south west London last weekend helped them refocus.
Next up on Saturday it’s the early pacesetters Eastleigh and Parkinson knows which Alty need to turn up.
He says the club’s play-off semi-final defeat to eventual Promotion Final winners Bromley still lingers, but knows more victories will banish that totally.
“We are still a work in progress and maybe still nursing a play-off hangover subconsciously,” he told the club’s website.
“Not that you can tell around the camp. I believe in the group, they’ve been hurt by the result at Sutton but we couldn’t feel sorry for ourselves, with the Maidenhead game taking place just three days later.
“We stayed positive whilst licking our wounds over the weekend. We reminded the lads who we are and what’s expected from us this season and they showed quality and resilience to execute a well-deserved win.”
The Alty boss, who is aiming to topple the early season pace-setters this weekend, added: “I know when we click we’ll be the team every one associates with Altrincham. I can see signs of it already.
“I did say we are missing a couple of big players at the start of the season and when we get everyone back we’ll look a different animal.”
