Altrincham Boss Parkinson Is Really Thinking Big

Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson says everyone at the club must be thinking long-term.

The Robins are back in the National League North after only a season away.

They romped to the Evo-Stik NPL Premier last term following a record breaking year at Step 3.

Parkinson has ambitions and says there is no reason why the club can’t build on last season’s title success.

Now he is thinking about the future and doesn’t want them to get left being.

He told us: “What we don’t want to do us stand still. When you do, bad habits creep back in and after the last 12 months that’s the last thing Altrincham needs.

“I think long-term the club needs to look at going full-time. Is it possible? I hope so. It will be a big decision and a groundbreaking one but when the time is right it would be massive.

“That’s not to say it needs to happen right away because it doesn’t.

“But when you look at the National League North you see how many clubs are and the successful ones get more time together.

“If it’s possible or not I don’t know. But I do think it’s an avenue to look down at some point.

“It’s my next step as a coach. This isn’t a hobby for me, it’s a career. I love the job, it’s a great club and in the future I would like to see Altrincham take the leap if it’s possible.”
