Allinson Slams His Saints After Home Disaster Casts Doubt

Ian Allinson has urged his St Albans City side to not let their hard work this season come undone following the worst performance since he took charge.

The Saints started brightly against Whitehawk on Saturday but they were caught cold by the relegation-threatened Hawks and went on to lose 3-0.

The defeat on home soil means St Albans remain in fourth in the National League South ahead of three away matches on the bounce.

The Saints boss wasn’t willing to sugarcoat things after the Whitehawk disappointment and said they got what they deserved - nothing.

Allinson told the club’s YouTube channel: “I know we lost at Gosport 4-0 last season but I felt we had more of a go in that one. This was one of our worst performances since I’ve been here.

“Whitehawk got exactly what they deserved and the three could have been four or five in the end. We were second best for long periods of the game.

“At the moment we’re shooting ourselves in the foot by giving away sloppy goals. Information; talking; enthusiasm, everything that we needed wasn’t there.

“We had our backsides smacked. We need to realise that it’s a tough, tough League. It’s a worry and we could undo all the good work we’ve done so far this season.”
