Allen Thinks His New Signing Lee Is A Shaw Thing!

Martin Allen thinks Lee Shaw can step up from packing boxes to scoring inside them.

Chesterfield secured the signing of 24-year-old Grantham Town striker, who found the net more than 50 times in the past two years.

He had been in trial at Lincoln City - but Chesterfield won the duel and he becomes the striker Allen has been chasing all summer long.

The Spireites boss continues to have free reign on the club’s website and posted his latest update in his own unique style.

“We have signed a 24-year-old centre-forward called Lee Shaw, who this morning was in a factory at 6am to pack boxes,” he wrote.

“He has signed a two-year deal with a one-year option, subject to the paperwork going through.

“We chose a hungry, young man, on his way up, rather than a seen it, done it, bought the t-shirt type, who would have been just coming here to pick up his last pay packet and cruise in third gear.

“He’s got an excellent goal ratio, a great attitude and he’s chosen us ahead of a decent Football League club.

“We’ve got a player who matches our desire and drive to be successful in the future and not gloat about his past.”
