Alfreton Bring In Coasters Winger

Alfreton Town have announced the signing of Brendon Daniels from National League side AFC Fylde.

He has penned a one-year deal with the Reds.

Daniels was born in Stoke-on-Trent and started his career with Crewe Alexandra, signing a scholarship in 2010.

In May 2011, he signed his first professional contract on a two-year deal.

His League debut came in August 2012 in a 5–0 win over Hartlepool United in the Carling Cup, coming on as a substitute.

In May 2013, he was released by Crewe at the expiry of his contract.

In January 2014, Daniels went on trial at Conference (National League) Premier side Gateshead and scored a hat-trick in a Durham Challenge Cup game against Darlington FC.

He eventually re-signed for Chester in February 2014 and made three appearances before been released at the end of the 2013/14 season.

In August 2014, following a successful trial period, Daniels joined Conference North side Tamworth and in May 2016, he signed a three-year contract at AFC Fylde after a prolific 2015/16 campaign at league rivals Harrogate Town where he scored 22 goals.

Reds Boss John McDermott was pleased to have signed Daniels: "It's a fantastic signing for us,” he told his club`s website. “I know Brendon very well from when he was at Harrogate and he scored 22 goals in that season. He was very impressive.

"He isn't the scorer of simple goals! Doesn't score tap-ins, he scores screamers and can score from any distance. He has fantastic quality from free kicks and corners. He's a hard worker and he gives people a lift, gives them confidence."

"He has a lot of class and a lot of flair. Our centre forwards will thrive on his distribution and it will give us extra creativity. He can go on the left side of midfield, the left wing or in the number ten role and it gives us excellent balance in midfield. We need time to let the side settle and our defence look settled already.

"With Brendon coming in it will give us all confidence and we can settle into the season. I'm delighted to have him at the Reds."

Alfreton have also confirmed that Billy Whitehouse has left the club in order to play regular first-team football elsewhere.
