Akinde Leaves The Hive As Lincoln City Come Calling

Barnet striker John Akinde is back in the Football League just a few months after being relegated from it.

The Bees striker has signed a three year contract at 2017 National League champions Lincoln City.

John Still will have to do without the forward next season as the north London club agreed terms terms with the Imps.

He isn’t the only player taken from the division by Lincoln. Boreham Wood’s Bruno Andrade signed last month.

"It is never easy to sign a player with this type of goalscoring record and John is unique in also possessing all of the qualities that we were looking for in a centre forward," Danny Cowley said to the club’s official website.

"He will also compliment our current triumvirate of Matt Rhead, Matt Green and Bruno Andrade.

"This is a big signing for Lincoln City but also a really important decision for John, so we are delighted that he feels his ambitions can be realised at Sincil Bank."

He added: "There has been significant investment from several clubs already this transfer window and we anticipate a really competitive division this season.

"Therefore, we are really pleased to have completed this signing as we put the finishing touches to our squad for the coming season."
